Employment Project

Community Care of Central Wisconsin Employment Project

For the past year Community Care of Central Wisconsin (CCCW) has been a part of a state wide initiative called Pathways to Independence which is helping Managed Care Organizations and other agencies improve Integrated Employment opportunities for the people we serve.

Last year the Employment Opportunity Development Committee at CCCW, with the help of others throughout the organization, wrote a Vision and Mission statement as a guide.

Our vision at Community Care of Central Wisconsin is to give our members the same

opportunities to seek employment and be self-supporting as enjoyed by all citizens.

Our mission is to promote and encourage integrated community based employment

for members while respecting individual outcomes, preferences and choices.

At each of our four locations (Stevens Point, Wausau, Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield) members and staff have access to an Employment Resource Center. In the centers are short DVDs that can be viewed showing stories of successful employment for people with disabilities. There are handouts on a variety of topics about employment and things to consider when choosing work.

Another result of CCCW’s Employment Project is Customized Employment Training for Supported Employment providers and other agencies. Customized Employment is a strategy that helps to find people with significant disabilities real jobs for real pay. Michael Callahan, a nationally known employment specialist, is offering a four part series throughout the year. Four area Supported Employment providers have signed on to use the Customized Employment model with a CCCW member as they go through the trainings and will receive incentives for completing the training and using the model.

These are just a few of the things we have in progress. For more information please contact Cathy Derezinski , Employment Project Coordinator, This email address is being protected from spambots.
