  • As of 8/25/17, Type of Billing (TOB) 121 or 122 will not pay. Instead this will deny as WG0, Invalid Type of Bill.
  • EDI submitters: WPS notified us on 8/18/17 of the following:
    WPS Health Insurance will soon begin migrating some EDI claim process functions to a third party, Smart Data Solutions (SDS); please watch for information in the near future. This change will impact WPS Health Insurance, Arise Health Plan, Aspirus Arise, and Family Care/Children's Program lines of business.

    This change will not affect your connectivity with us or how you send files today. You will also continue to receive acknowledgement files (TA1, 999, 277CA) in the same location as today. Due to enhancements to our validation edit process, you may receive multiple 277CAs for claims within a single file/transaction.

Authorizations for 99499 will terminate on December 31, 2016 and new authorizations for the T2025U1 code have been created for a January 1, 2017 start date. Please check that the correct authorization code is used for billing as of January 1 to ensure timely payment.

  • Several providers have contacted CCCW and inquired about WPS changing the process for claim payment. Per WPS, a change in payment frequency was made on August 25, 2016 for some lines of service that support, but it is NOT applicable to family care claim submissions.   • CCCW was recently notified by WPS of an issue with Provider Remittance Advices (PRA's). This involved providers, who receive Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT's) and paper PRA's, not receiving paper PRA's since August 11, 2016. Please see the attached document for specific details and additional information.

  • The Provider Portal was down over the weekend for scheduled enhancements. These enhancements included the "All Processed Authorizations" view returning. This dropdown view is especially helpful when searching for an authorization. 

    You will also notice when you select "Authorizations" from your portal homepage you will receive an electronic signature message, prompting you to select OK (see the example below). Once you've selected ok, you will be taken to the authorizations page.

WPS: 

  • On October 1, 2015 the medical code set for medical diagnoses and inpatient hospital procedures will change from ICD-9 to ICD-10. This change will effect medical services claims. Non-medical claims submitted via paper or spreadsheet will continue to be billed without an ICD-10 code.  All WPS PC-Ace (Electronic) submissions must use a valid ICD-10 code.  Non-medical claims submitted electronically can use the ICD-10 default code of R6889.   All claim submitters must separate dates of services with the correct ICD code.  Example:  ICD 9 code is used until September 30, 2015  and  is billed on one claim.  The new ICD 10 code is billed as of October 1, 2015 on a separate claim.  WPS sent the following communication to CCCW, which was forwarded to all providers on July 30, 2015.   Please direct any questions to WPS at 1-800-223-6016.

  • WPS is experiencing a 2-3 week backlog for paper claims and reprocessing requests. They have dedicated additional resources to work through this backlog and expect to be current again within the next 2-3 weeks.

Member Authorizations:

  • Please utilize the attached document for updated contact information for authorization support. Support contacts are specific to provider specialty.
  • The This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. email address has been disabled. Please use the group emails identified on the 'Provider Specialty Authorizations Support" link.

WPS: 

  • PT, OT, and ST and mental health authorizations/claims should be billed with the revenue code and CPT on the UB-04 form. If billing without the revenue code, with the CPT, then a CMS-1500 form has to be used. Please see the attached forms.

Provider Portal: 

  • The "All Authorizations" view in the portal is currently not available. This view is helpful for viewing all of the authorizations, but this view also shows authorizations that are in draft (not completed and able to be billed against) and we do not want to create confusion or billing errors if you were to utilize an authorization not yet ready for usage. We are working to remedy the utility of this dropdown and we are hopeful to have "All Authorizations" as an option in the near future.
  • Please note that the default view is set to "Open Service Authorizations," and you will need to adjust this, if needed, when searching for authorizations.

Member Authorizations:

  • As of February 1, 2015, WPS has been enforcing the personal care bill type changes that went into effect October 1, 2013. If you are having denied claims for this service type, please reference the attached dated October 15, 2014. If you have additional questions, please contact Member Authorizations.

Provider Portal:

  • Portal Maintenance: The portal will be unavailable beginning on Friday, April 24th, 2015 at 6:00pm through Sunday, April 26th, 2015CareDirector will be performing a system update during this time.

  • Please find the new link to access the Provider Portal Power Point Training below. If you are experiencing problems viewing your authorizations when selecting the Export to Excel or Authorization for Service, assure that your pop-up blocker has been disabled.

Member Authorizations:

  • CCCW/WPS reviewed and reprocessed the December and January denied "NM" authorizations

WPS:

  • During the transition from their old system to the new one, some provider Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) records did not transfer properly into the new system which resulted in generation of paper checks vs. electronic payments
    • Impacted providers have been identified and contacted by WPS
    • Corrections were made and EFT reissued
